Baked Beans“Mom’s Stove-top Version”




3 small cans park and beans 15 oz.

1 small onion - chopped

½ to 1 small bell pepper - chopped

½ cup or more sugar - white or brown

Barbecue sauce (to taste)

Steak or Worcestershire sauce


This can be adjusted to the amount of beans you need. I use pork and beans, if not available I think any bean in tomato sauce would do. Add the fresh chopped onion and pepper. Use enough sugar for a sweet taste, add barbecue and other sauces to taste. I use a lot of barbecue sauce. Cook in open skillet until onion and peppers are tender and beans have thickened to a good consistency. Don’t overdo as they will thicken a lot more as they cool. Can also be baked in oven, stove top is my shortcut!
